Parents often choose the celestial theme because it works well for a baby girls or boys bedroom and lends the nursery a quiet and peaceful feel.

Parents don’t have to worry about shooting the moon when they set out a decorating budget for a celestial theme nursery. Designing a room for the new baby with a moon and stars motif can be affordable and easy.

Start with the Walls for the Moon and Stars Theme Bedroom or Nursery

Celestial theme wallpaper choices are a popular option for baby nurseries. Parents might also opt for the more affordable coat of paint. But since color schemes for the moon and stars theme fall into both pastel and bold shades, decorators will probably want to scope out their baby’s crib set before painting.

Once the walls are covered, parents can add a co-ordinating moon and star theme wallpaper border or try their hand at stencils. If they’ve decided on a bolder blue for the night sky and a bright yellow for the moon and stars, they can add a border or decals representing the colorful planets of the solar system.

Parents can use craft paint to add a mural of shooting stars, a smiling moon, a rocket ship, or the words to nursery rhymes such as “Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star” and “Hey Diddle Diddle”. Peel and stick celestial wall decals or wallpaper murals are an equally attractive option.

Crib Sets, Window Treatments, and Area Rugs, for the Celestial Theme Nursery

There are a host of options when it comes to crib sets bespangled with the moon and stars. Many crib sets are accompanied by everything parents will need for a nursery from the night sky area rug to the twinkling star mobile above the crib.

To keep costs down, parents can find coordinating items instead of purchasing every item that goes along with the set. Sheer window treatments give the celestial nursery an airy view to the real night sky and lamp shades can be decorated with shimmery star stickers.

Decorating a Moon and Stars Theme Nursery or Bedroom

Parents can emphasize the “Good night,” aspect of the moon and stars theme by framing pages from the well-loved storybook Good Night Moon and hanging them in sequence around the nursery.

The cow that jumped over the moon is another popular coordinating motif for a moon and stars theme nursery. Stuffed animal cows are nice accents for rocking chairs and dresser tops.

To give the room some added depth, parents can cut stars from gold poster board and use fishing line and sticky hooks to hang them from the ceiling. Glow in the dark moon and star stickers can be another inexpensive touch to liven up the ceiling or walls. Wall hangings or cross stitch samplers depicting popular nursery rhymes will round out the theme. Popular choices include, “Star Light, Star Bright,” “Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star,” and “Hey Diddle Diddle.”

Shelves are a great place to decorate with cow figurines, an old-fashioned globe, a toy telescope for when baby’s older, model rocket ships, and story books. Parents can choose books whose covers depict the night sky, a moon and stars, or rockets and set them covers facing outward. Decorating with books is an inexpensive way they can instill a love of reading early.

Parents can personalize the room by framing sweet portraits of their sleeping baby along with the lyrics to popular lullabies. Touches like these make a celestial theme room feel special and fill it with happy memories.

Decorators can use creative ideas to reach for the stars with their nursery plans while keeping their budget down to earth. For other tips and ideas, they can check out articles on ABC, ocean, jungle, garden, and airplane bedroom themes.
