Hop to it parents! These creative ideas make a frog theme nursery for baby boys and girls adorable and affordable.

Frogs are a popular gender neutral nursery or bedroom theme. Parents can even tie in a fairy tale motif by decorating with a princess and a frog prince.

Start with the Walls for the Frog Theme Nursery

Wallpaper options abound depicting frogs of all shades of green, but decorators might also opt for the more affordable coat of paint.

Parents may want to choose bedding and accent pieces to help select their foundation color for the wall. Current crib sets often depict frogs against a background of yellow, pink, or blue. The frog theme is commonly done in both pastel and primary color schemes.

Once the walls are covered, parents can add a frog theme wallpaper border or try their hand at stencils. Some may want to attempt A mural of a pond with floating lily pads, dragon flies, butterflies, a turtle or two and of course frogs. Peel and stick wall decals or wallpaper murals are an equally attractive option.

Bed Sets Crib Sets, Window Treatments, and Area Rugs, for the Frog Nursery

The trendy frog theme has resulted in quite a few options for crib sets and coordinating accessories. The prices of these sets vary widely. A few of the more popular packages on the market include Amity Home’s Frog crib set, Brandee Daniel’s Sammy the Frog crib bedding, Bebe’s Frogs and Bugs bedding set, Brandee Daniel’s Ribbit Baby set, Doodlefish’s Paddy Frog bedding, My Sweet Dream’s Baby Frog crib set, and Glenna Jean’s Leap Frog Baby crib set.

Coordinating curtains, wall hangings, area rugs, diaper storage, and lamps accompany most of these crib sets. Do-it-yourself decorators may prefer to make their own curtains and throw pillows from the plentiful options of fun frog fabrics.

Decorating a Frog Theme Nursery

Stuffed animal frogs will go a long way to help with their decor. Rocking chairs, beds, dressers, and bookshelves are all great places to tie in the theme with a stuffed froggy.

Parents who want to go all out with the frog theme for their baby’s nursery can hunt down a used desk, table, chairs, dresser, or chest of drawers and give them a froggy make-over. Stencils make this a decorating project any parent can tackle.

Oriental Trading is a site where decorators can find affordable frog crafts to accent the bedroom. Older kids will love helping to create their own frog décor.

Higher shelves are a great place to decorate with frog figurines, a trickling fountain, silk ferns, a stuffed animal frog collection, and frog themed storybooks such as Tuesday by David Wiesner, The Tale of Mr. Jeremy Fisher, by Beatrix Potter, A Frog Prince by Alex Berenzy, Frogs by Jerald Donaldson, The Frog Princess by E. D. Baker, and The Princess and the Frog by Will Eisner. Decorating with books is an inexpensive way parents can brighten up the bedroom and instill a love of reading early.

Parents can personalize the room by searching out a Halloween frog costume at a thrift store or on eBay. Pictures from an in-home photo shoot of a baby dressed up as a frog prince or princess will nook great in the nursery and the scrap book as well. Parents and older kids can also scope out a bunch of frog illustrations from the used book store and clip favorite photos with their child. The pictures can be used to decoupage accent pieces for the room such as pencil cans, plaques for the wall, a table and chairs, or nightstand. Touches like these make a frog theme room feel special and fill it with happy memories.
