Parents can help their new baby boy or girl count sheep as they drift off to sleep in their adorable lamb theme nursery.

What nursery theme could be more peaceful than sweet lambs and wooly sheep? Here are crib sets, and creative decorating tips to tie the theme together.

Start with the Walls for the Little Lamb Theme Nursery

Wallpaper options abound depicting lambs set against soft pastel pinks, greens, yellows, and blues, but decorators might also opt for the more affordable coat of paint. Parents may want to choose bedding and accent pieces to help select their foundation color for the wall.

Once the walls are covered, parents can add a lamb theme wallpaper border or try their hand at stencils. Some may want to attempt a mural depicting a peaceful pasture, cuddly lambs, gentle sheep, and possibly a shepherd. Peel and stick wall decals or wallpaper murals are an equally attractive option.

Several popular nursery rhymes such as Mary Had a Little Lamb, Little Bo Peep, Ba Ba Black Sheep, and Little Boy Blue would look great on display. Decorators may also want to highlight the well known passage from the Bible about the Good Shepherd, Psalm 23. Parents can either stencil the poems on the wall, or frame computer printouts of the rhymes in a nice font accompanied with adorable lamb clip art.

If parents want to take it easy, the little lamb theme can be put together with little to no effort. The wide variety of sheep themed growth charts and wall hangings ensure parents will have no problem brightening up the nursery walls.

Bed Sets Crib Sets, Window Treatments, and Area Rugs, for the Lamb or Sheep Theme Nursery

The gentle look of the lamb nursery theme has resulted in quite a few options for crib sets and coordinating accessories. The prices of these sets vary widely. A few of the more popular packages on the market include Jessica Scott’s Counting Sheep crib set, Pottery Barn’s Counting Sheep bedding package, Bebechic’s Counting Sheep crib set, Soho Designs’ Wooly Sheep package, and Bananafish’s Wooly Sheep set.

Coordinating curtains, wall hangings, area rugs, diaper storage, and lamps accompany most of these crib sets. Do-it-yourself decorators may prefer to make their own curtains and throw pillows from lamb print or pastel fabrics.

Decorating a Lamb Theme Nursery

Stuffed animal sheep will go a long way to help with their decor. Rocking chairs, beds, dressers, and bookshelves are all great places to tie in the theme with soft stuffed lambs.

Parents who want to go all out with the sheep theme for their baby’s nursery can hunt down a used desk, table, chairs, dresser, or chest of drawers and give them a little lamb make-over. Stencils make this a decorating project any parent can tackle.

A toy chest painted in a soft pastel and stenciled with black and white sheep would make a cute accent piece. Decorators could make a coordinating wall shelf in no time at all.

Higher shelves are a great place to decorate with stuffed animal sheep, a Little Bo Peep doll, and sheep themed storybooks. Some great titles include Russell the Sheep by Rob Scotton, Sheep in a Shop by Nancy E. Shaw, Sheep in a Jeep by Nancy E. Shaw, Sheep Blast Off by Nancy E. Shaw, Sheep Don’t Count Sheep by Margaret Wise Brown, One More Sheep by Mij Kelly, and Where Is the Green Sheep? by Mem Fox. Decorating with books is an inexpensive way parents can brighten up the bedroom and instill a love of reading early.

Parents can personalize the room by searching out a Halloween little lamb costume at a thrift store or on eBay. Pictures from an in-home photo shoot of a baby dressed up as a wooly sheep will look great in the nursery and the scrap book as well.

Parents and older kids can also have fun scoping out a bunch of sheep illustrations from the used book store and clip favorite photos with their child. The pictures can be used to decoupage accent pieces for the room such as pencil cans, plaques for the wall, a table and chairs, or nightstand. Touches like these make a sheep theme room feel special and fill it with happy memories.

This adorable theme has parents flocking to decorate their new babies’ nurseries with little lambs and wooly sheep. For more ideas, parents can check out articles on nursery themes including bunny rabbits, barnyard animals, or teddy bears.
