Parents will have a ball decorating a sports theme bedroom or nursery. Basketball, baseball, football, soccer and sports nursery décor is easy to find and affordable.

sports nursery decor is a popular selection for bedrooms belonging to little boys of any age. Parents often choose to decorate with balls and sports equipment because it’s a theme little boys can grow into and enjoy for quite some time. Here are some tips to help parents get into the decorating game.

Wall Decor for the Sports Theme Bedroom or Nursery

There’s no one color that’s best for a Sports theme baby nursery or bedroom. Parents can select wallpaper representing a favorite team, or choose a coat of paint in their team’s colors. If parents are decorating with a non-specific sports theme, a shade of primary blue will probably work well with most crib and bed sets.

Once the walls are covered, parents can add a sports theme wallpaper border or try their hand at stencils. They can use craft paint to add a team logo, sports scene, or various balls streaking across the wall. Peel and stick wall decals or wallpaper murals are an equally attractive option.

Bed Sets Crib Sets, Window Treatments, and Area Rugs, for the Sports Nursery or Bedroom

Parents can either choose a generic sports theme bed set, or go with a set for a specific sports team. If parents have a hard time locating a crib set or bedding for their favorite team, they might have to settle for a set in their team’s colors topped with a stuffed animal of their team’s mascot and throw pillows bearing the team logo.

Co-ordinating curtains often accompany bed sets or crib sets, but do-it-yourself decorators might rather create their own curtains, throw pillows, and rocking chair cushions from fun fabrics showing their favorite sports team.

Parents should first take stock of the toy box to see what stuffed animals and sports equipment will help with their decor. Rocking chairs, beds, dressers, and bookshelves are all great places to display stuffed animals dressed as sports players or wearing a team jersey. Toy balls of all sorts are another inexpensive way to decorate. Colorful sweatbands with team logos can be placed under a ball to prevent it from rolling off a dresser or shelf. To give the room some depth, parents can use sticky hooks to hang pennants from the ceiling.

Older kids might like to choose posters of individual athletes or favorite sports teams to liven up the bedroom walls. Decorators can also use pegs to display bright team jerseys and baseball caps.

Shelves are a great place to decorate with helmets, trophies, balls, and storybooks. Parents can choose books whose covers depict sports themes and set them covers facing outward. Decorating with books is an inexpensive way they can instill a love of reading early.

Parents can personalize a baby’s nursery by framing pictures of their little boy in sports theme outfits and playing with balls. Parents can help older kids display team pictures or action shots of them playing their favorite sport. Another fun idea is to find Sport’s Illustrated magazines destined for the dumpster and clip photos for a sports collage. The pictures can also be used to decoupage accent pieces for the room such as pencil cans, plaques for the wall, a table and chairs, or nightstand. Kids will also love displaying personal autographs they’ve received from their sports heroes. Touches like these make a sports theme room feel special and fill it with happy memories.
