Using Blue To Decorate a Little Girl's BedroomBlues Can be Soft, Soothing and Feminine with Creative Room Decor
Who says a bedroom for a young girl has to be plastered in shades of cotton candy pink? Blue is the new interior decorating trend in a modern little girl's boudoir.
Everyone waiting for the arrival of a baby girl, especially mommy and daddy, have some big decisions to make, including what color to paint the little girl’s bedroom. Some moms-to-be want baby blue while others think that baby blue should just be used just to paint and decorate a boy’s room. The truth is that blue is not just for boys and with so many amazing decorator paints to choose from (Benjamin Moore, Ralph Lauren and Sherwin Williams), there are a million different shades of blue that work in a little girl’s bedroom. Think Outside the Blue and Pink StereotypesFor so long, all we see in baby boutiques and department stores and in every gift unwrapped at a baby shower is blue for boys and pink for girls. It is such an old fashioned ideal and there is no reason why beautiful blues cannot be used to decorate a little girl’s bedroom. For wall colors, quilts, linens, room accessories, carpets and areas rugs as well as window coverings and furniture – a palette of blues that range from a pale shade of sky, a mellow Wedgwood, a rich marine or a deep midnight blue – blue can make a room vibrant or calming, fun or fussy. It all depends on the shades and color intensities chosen. Often – Blue Grows Up Better than PinkAs an infant baby girl grows quickly into a going concern toddler and then an unstoppable preschooler, it would be nice to have a room that grows up with the child, wouldn’t it? Think about it and you will agree… in most cases, blue grows up better than pink does! Blue also works very well in a girl’s room when used in harmony with other colors. Some of the best complementary colors include yellow (mellow, bright or buttery), white (bright, creamy or antiqued), mauve (when played against a darker blue palette), and red (works best with navy blue in a country cozy themed bedroom). Any of these combinations work for a girly bedroom. Every Girl Needs Their Own SpaceA little girl’s bedroom should be designed as her own space, with her own style. For a girl who might be a little more tomboy than ballerina, blue is the best choice. If the current room is already pink, blue can be a great balancing color to take make the room a little less “frou-frou”. No matter what, try and create a space that is relaxing; a place for a little girl to sleep peacefully, play care freely, and daydream.
